Hi there,

There's really no better place to be than D.C. to celebrate our nation's independence, and just because the 4th falls on a weekday this year doesn't mean the fun has to stop! Here are the top 10 things I recommend you check out to get the most out of your holiday week:
  1. Fireworks on the National Mall: For one of the best views of D.C. fireworks, grab your blanket and set up camp between the U.S. Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial in downtown D.C. Fireworks start at 9:10pm on July 4 and this free event concludes with the 1812 Overture.

  2. A Capitol Fourth: Happening on July 4, swing by East Capitol and First streets for this annual celebration hosted by Tom Bergeron. Take in special performances by Matthew Broderick, the National Symphony Orchestra, Josh Turner and more! The 90-minute musical event is free and starts at 8pm.

  3. Root for the Home Team: Catch the Nats as they take on the Giants...for less! What's more American than eating hotdogs while cheering on the home team of the Nation's Capital? Post Tickets has tickets to each game of this series (July 3-5) starting at $10!

  4. National Independence Day Parade: Don your best red, white & blue and celebrate America's birthday! The annual parade, which is a major national event, starts at 11:45am on July 4 at Constitution Avenue and 7th street.

  5. Red White and Boom: Located at the Kastles Stadium at the Wharf this year, this annual Independence Day Party is sure to please. Rock out with a variety of pop artists, including Yacht Rock Revue and the Morrison Brothers Band. Tickets include a five-hour open bar, games and access to food trucks. (4:30-9:30pm on July 4. Tickets are $79.)

  6. Z-Burger's Independence Burger Eating Contest: Happening July 3rd at 12pm, head over to Z-Burger's Tenleytown location to catch their 4th annual Burger Eating Contest. Immediately following the contest, spectators will get to enjoy FREE food (one burger, an order of fries and one soft drink per person) until 2 pm.

  7. All Aboard! Watch this year's spectacular fireworks show from the water. Entertainment Cruises has Fourth of July options aboard three of their ships, cruising along the Potomac, to bring you an incredible and unique view. (Ticket prices range. See their site for more info.)

  8. Independence Day Ice Cream Social: With the heat we've had, we're all screaming for ice cream a little louder lately! Join the Tudor Place Historic House and Garden on Tuesday, July 3 from 1-3pm and create your own ice cream sundae in the enchanted garden. The fun doesn't stop there: You can take a tour of the famous house and the kids can have some fun with games and crafts. (Order tickets ahead of time. Adults: $5; children $10.)

  9. Blackberries & Jazz at Cobbler Mountain Cellar: Keep the party going after the 4th with our deal and join Cobbler Mountain Cellars for their Blackberries and Jazz event. Featuring local homemade ice cream and blackberries (from Cobbler Mountain!), there's also live music from the Royce Campbell Jazz Duo. (Saturday, July 7, 2-6pm.)

  10. We can’t forget about the sales! Receive an additional 15% off + free shipping online at Macy’s with code “FOURTH” (exclusions apply). Save up to $20 off tickets to Six Flags America (restrictions may apply). And enjoy up to 40% off at Gap during their Red Bright + Blue Sale. (Styles and prices vary. Online offer ends July 4.)

Enjoy!
